Project Overview
The Masterchef Mixer-Grinder brought together multiple GDD practices; product research and teardown, intuitive design, CAD development, interface design, and manufacturing assistance, ensuring a seamless journey from render to manufacturing within an end-to-end product design and engineering workflow. The objective was to modernise the classic ‘L’-shaped mixer-grinder, which had become visually dated amid an influx of over-styled appliances, while retaining the form and functionality that made it effective.
Designed as a product design for the Indian market, the solution responds directly to everyday usage and designing for Indian conditions including space constraints, heavy use, and cleaning habits. Interchangeable surface elements allow the appliance to double as a chopping board or weighing scale, depending on user needs in a multi-functional kitchen environment. By intelligently reinterpreting the iconic ‘L’-shaped form, the design delivers powerful performance with minimal effort, resulting in a product-ready industrial design that balances clarity, usability, and manufacturability for scalable appliance manufacturing in India.
