We're designing a premium product. And 'premium' means something very different to the person actually holding it in a tube-lit store vs what it looks like in a design brief or a photography studio.

What surprised us?

The signals of premium aren't what most brands think.

It's the weight of a button.
The sound a lid makes.
The way a finish catches light, in a store, not a studio.

You can't learn this on a computer.
You have to go stand in the aisle.

Field first. Assumptions last. Always.

Thinking Beyond ‘Form Follows Function’

I’ve often heard the phrase ‘form follows function’ thrown around, like it’s a universal law in design. But honestly, I’ve never completely agreed with it. Over the years, I’ve found that the best products aren’t just the result of choosing one over the other. Instead, form and function work in synchronicity collaborating to create something that’s both easy to use and genuinely enjoyable to look at or touch.

Think about the cast iron pan or a well-made handheld appliance. They feel right in your hand, serve their purpose flawlessly, but also bring a sense of elevation to daily routines. When a design manages this balance, it becomes natural to reach for it; and impossible to imagine your space without it.

At the end of the day, it’s not about picking sides. The truly remarkable products showcase that form and function do their best work together.
